Review: Touiteur A Premiere Twitter Android Application

| April 30, 2010 | Comments (4)

App Name: Touiteur

Description: It is a twitter application so you can communicate via twitter from phone, sending and recieving updates from and to your followers.

How it works: Login with any account and it will populate your stream. Add another account by clicking menu and settings, in the settings there are MANY things you can do, from changing colors of accounts to changing the color of the menu bar at the bottom.

Touiteur is available on the Android market for free, but you can unlock more features with the purchase of the Premium version.

  • Multiple accounts, with view filtering
  • 3 Widgets available for you home screen: 4×1, 4×2 and 4×3
  • Url shortening
  • Integrated browser and picture preview
  • More customization options, such as the light theme, changing the bottom bar color, led color for notifications, custom ringtone for notifications
  • More features will be added soon for the Premium version, such as Twitlonger support

Opinion: One of my favorites is the widget, nice big widget if you wish and it keeps you updated. I use it for when I want to view whats going on with my friends at a glance, without clicking on the full app. I also like that I can reply from the widget and post from the widget as well. Its pretty awesome stuff. Giving your accounts a specific color is pretty cool as well, right now I have 4 accounts going and all of them are designated by a different color. Its sad, I realized a while after I had downloaded it (the first time a while back) that the app is pronounced Twee-tear. So its a french pronunciation of twitter. Clever and fun

Before this app I had to guess what account I was getting tweets from, I wasn’t always sure as some of my accounts shared a similar friend list, I liked to follow users who I followed on the accounts for the sites I wrote for or helped with. With it, I am able to clearly see, ok this is brown, it means its from here, very nice! It also loads quickly, its smooth and looks clean. Thats something that rocks. Always a benefit. The bi.ly support in the paid version is nice, just another customization feature that is just awesome. The UI as mentioned before, is nice, I like how some of it pops and just does what I want it to. The “bouncy effect” that seems to be a focus on the whole app is really nice, it kind of fits, it feels like it should, my swype keyboard does the same thing, just bounces up. The whole app just impresses me really.

Pro:

  • Really good looking UI
  • Functions well, better than most
  • It has multiple choices for widgets
  • Able to change the color of accounts
  • Colored content fields
  • Easy to Use
  • Fun to use
  • Customization!

Cons

  • Takes a bit of getting used to
  • Paid version has more that free should have

Conclusion: One of my favorites is the widget, nice big widget if you wish and it keeps you updated. I have been with Touiteur ever since it was first released and it has come SUCH a long way.

The developer is extremely attentive and would reply to my tweets about issues, and suggestions. Literally EVERYTHING i asked for was eventually added. I have NO complains with Touiteur! It was able to replace every single twitter application in my phone!
