HTC Eris Will Not be Receiving Froyo Update

| September 17, 2010 | Comments (1)

ComputerWorld spoke with Verizon Wireless spokesperson, Brenda Raney who confirmed that the HTC Eris will not be receiving the 2.2 Froyo update. This, of course has customers furious because they still have more than a year left on their two-year contract and have no choice but to stay with Verizon until those contracts are up.

The response given by Raney, by email, for drop in support was quoted as:

“We have other options in Android devices, so this is part of the normal evolution of our portfolio.”

This could probably be the reason why Verizon decided to put an end-of-life notice on the phone. Now Verizon will have to deal with enraged customers who have to put up with a phone going nowhere for the next year.
