Are US Galaxy S Devices Finally Getting Froyo?
When news broke that Galaxy S owners in Canada were finally getting Android 2.2 pushed to their Vibrant and Fascinate phones, US customers naturally wondered when they would begin seeing their updates.
The answer seems to be, not yet.
Talk Android got a tip that some Samsung product pages were displaying the devices as having Android 2.2.
If you happen to be a Galaxy S owner then this probably looked like promising news. However, it turned out to be either a typo or a cruel joke because the product pages for the Fascinate, the Vibrant, the Epic 4G as well as the rest of the Galaxy S line are all showing Android 2.1 as the OS for at least the time being.
Samsung still hasn’t committed to a release date for 2.2 for US devices, which has caused some to speculate that they may forgo Froyo and go straight to Gingerbread.
What do you think? Is 2.2 even worth having now that Android 2.3, Gingerbread, is out?

I sold my galaxy s, software support was lacking from samsung. I bought it because I saw a ad from tmobile saying all phones released by them in 2010 would have froyo. With Android 2.4 coming sooner than normal it appears, who thinks samsung will ever catch up"? Not I that is for sure.
I tend to agree with you. I understand that there are issues that the manufacturers need to work out with carriers when a new OS update arrives, but Samsung really dropped the ball with FroYo.
My opinion is that they should skip 2.2 and move on to 2.3 at this point.

I have the Galaxy S Phone from T-mobile and their Customer Service Rep informed me that we are not Getting the 2.2 Froyo Update she was informed by her Superiors of that, I also said to the Rep this is a Bait and Switch Ploy to buy a Galaxy S Phone on Promise of an Upgrade then Lied about it because now you can't return it for a Full Refund!, The Companies in the U.S.A. Should not Distribute the Samsung Korean Products no more! They are Taken American for a Ride! We Been Bam Boozle!, Hoodwicked!, and Run Amok on this Fake Froyo 2.2 Upgrade!
