Mafia Wars on your Android Phone in December!

| December 21, 2010 | Comments (2)

Zynga, the makers of Farmville, Frontierville, and ZyngaPoker have announced that Mafia Wars will be coming to Android this month.  Mafia Wars has been a very popular game on Facebook  (21 million users) and was the winner of the 2009 Webby Award for gaming. It looks like Zynga as finally decided that Android is too big to ignore!   David Ko, the SVP of Mobile at Zynga has stated that mobile social gaming is “The next great frontier” and it looks like they mean to deliver on this statement.

The game allows you to start your life of crime as a small-timer and claw your way to the top of the family though drive-bys, thefts and other underworld activities.  As you work your way up in rank you get to travel the world to Cuba, Russia, Bangkok, and of course Italy.  The game allows you to recruit your friends into your family which makes your character stronger.  So this news should make many Mafia addicts happy and I’m sure this means that Farmville can’t be far behind.

Does the mobile game use your Mafia wars profile from facebook? I think if someone is high level already on facebook, they might not be happy about having to start over on their phone.

But the company supplying the game is not putting the game on Android Market, so unless your AT&T phone is un-rooted you can't load it. Also the site that you download from doesn't recognize the Samsung Captivate or any Galaxy S phones, so you have to take your chances and guess which version to download.
