Droid X2 Pictures and Specs Leak, It’s Still Basically A Droid X

| February 13, 2011 | Comments (8)

Our friends over at The Mobi Zone have received what appear to be pictures, along with a spec list, of the rumored Motorola Droid X2. The original Droid X brought beastly good specs to the market, along with a HUGE 4.3 inch touchscreen – so the DX2 has a lot to live up to. Whether or not it will deliver is another story entirely. Check out this spec list:
  • NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • QHD LCD Display – 540 x 960 Resolution (Same as Motorola Bionic)
  • 3G Only – No LTE/4G
  • 8MP Rear Facing Camera (No Front Cam)
  • Froyo (Android 2.2) – Could get Gingerbread (Adnroid 2.3) before launch
  • New Moto Blur (Same as Droid Bionic)
  • FM Radio
  • Locked/Encrypted BootLoader
  • Launch in Q2 of 2011
  • No Hardware Camera button

As you’ve probably noticed it looks almost exactly like the original DX, minus the dedicated camera button. This also mean that there is no front facing camera, which is most likely a huge mistake on Moto’s part.

Personally, if these specs are indeed legit, I will be very disappointed with this device. It‘s typical Motorola fashion, though, to release a “newer” phone with specs that aren’t much better than the original. Take a loot at the gallery below and then drop a line in the comments, I’m curious to hear others opinions of this spec sheet.

  2. I feel like it's going to be real hard to justify getting one of these refreshes with the 4G phones around the same specs. If these refreshes aren't a lot cheaper than the 4G, even if you don't have 4G, it's still not worth getting in my opinion.

  3. Yea I have a Droid x and I like all of the specs but with no 4g or Front facing camera there is no way I could justify this upgrade

Double the RAM and double the processing power is a pretty big jump. How could you be disappointed in this? If it was LTE then I'd be all over it.

    • Honestly, I expected a dual core OMAP in the DX2, so that's my first disappointment. No front facing camera is a pretty big deal considering that is becoming a standard feature of most high end phones.

Maybe I just expected to much.

  5. Dual core and extra is a pretty big deal, for me 4G and front facing camera are not deal breakers but rather performance.Hopefully it comes with a good sized internal storage as well…..is this enough though to make it a good buy with the new current crop of android smartphones or is this just Verizon capitalizing on the 1st Droid X's popularity and it's fanboys?

I don't think Verizon ever came out and said how many other 3G devices they were coming out with did they? I believe AT&T said they were going to have 12 phones, or something like that coming this year. Well just Android. I'm just wondering what their total will be. Either way, one year contract for me as I upgrade in 10 days.
