Motorola Cliq XT Owners, Welcome to the No-Update Club

| February 4, 2011 | Comments (4)

For all of us there is that moment of disappointment with our devices. Be it a Newer, Faster, Better version of the Phone we just bought seven months ago,  or an amazing app not being compatible, it happens.  Unfortunately, for those of us on T-Mobile who bought in to the promise of updates on a whole slew of devices, this happens more than it should.

So, congratulations to you Cliq XT owners, you have just been inducted into the same club as the owners of the Samsung Behold 2.  According to Motorola via their forum,

“We were not able to develop a version of Android 2.1 for CLIQ XT that would deliver an optimal customer experience.”

Apparently they tried several builds of the software but just had no luck with making a one that passed their quality standards for performance.  And that means the Cliq XT will “remain on Android 1.5.”  Android 1.5.  That’s Cupcake. This phone didn’t even make it to Donut, let alone the promised upgrade to Android 2.1 (Eclair).

I suppose that leave Cliq XT owners with one final question, what phone do you want now that yours is obsolete?  Let us know in the comment section below.

I feel so bad for my Mother-in-Law not only did she have a be-old 2 but she finally had enough replacements that t-mo sent her an brand new cliqXT, her current phone.

  3. Is funny how Motorola can make some really great phones and then they don't support their lower-level entry models.Unless you buy a Droid or top of line model chances are you will never see a update for your phone. All these blur styled cheap androids they rolled out this summer are all obsolete,it is a shame.
