Earlier today Flixster got an update that brought along a new interface, now it’s ESPN ScoreCenter’s turn. ESPN has updated their ScoreCenter app to be a bit more modern than what it used to be. Was it just me or did their old app look a lot like an iOS port? After using the app for a few minutes, I must say its much better than the way the app used to behave. It was only a matter of time before ScoreCenter got its update since ESPN College Football got updated before the College Football season started.

    What’s in this version:

ScoreCenter has been completely revamped and optimized for your Android device. With a new design and simple navigation, ScoreCenter makes it easier than ever to access the latest scores, news, and video clips for all of your favorite teams and sports.

Of course you can still check out your personalized scoreboards, news video highlights along with expanded game views that provide in-depth game coverage. So basically it’s the same great app you know and love, just a brand new interface. You still have your live integrated gamecasts along with links to WatchESPN, calendar navigation, MyNews and MyVideos are still a part of the app as well.

The UI is close to Holo, Android 4.x themed but not quite. But it’s still a slick interface, and Google needs to enforce their design guidelines they implemented starting with Android 4.0. Who agrees with me? I’ve found apps that follow those guidelines look great and work even better, like Tweet Lanes, and Tasks.

So who’s updated their ESPN ScoreCenter app yet? What do you think about the changes? Let us know in the comments below.
