While the iPhone might be the most anticipated phone for a few people, in our neck of the woods, it’s all about Samsung. Mobile World Congress is right around the corner, about 4 weeks away, and as you’ve seen over the past few days, we’ve seen a ton of rumors of devices being announced there and shortly after.

Samsung’s next flagship phone which was built under the codename “Project J” which has now been changed to “Altius”. The Samsung Altius is going to be available in both black and white. Like usual Samsung will change the names of the colors, like with the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. Pebble Blue and Marble White. Samsung is also planning to ship the Altius starting week 16, which is April 15. Which means we’d expect Samsung to hold their Unpacked event around Mobile World Congress or sometime in March to announce this device. The event could take place in London, New York or even Korea.

Oh and that rumor about wireless charging on the Galaxy S4? It’s real, at least according to Sammobile. Samsung will indeed sell a separate dock and a back cover with wireless charging capabilities for these devices. Sammobile has also confirmed that this device will come with a 2600mAh battery, which is a pretty big jump from the 2100mAh in the Galaxy S3. Here are some other special details about their next flagship that Sammobile is claiming is 100% confirmed:

Code Name: Altius
Model Number: GT-I9500
Colours: Black / White
Battery Capacity: 2600 mAh
Special: Wireless Charging Kit

And now for those all important specs:

  • 4.99-inch Super AMOLED Full HD Resolution Display
  • 2GB of RAM
  • Exynos 5 Octa (8-c0re) CPU, Mali-T658 (8-core) GPU
  • 13MP rear-facing camera, 2MP front-facing camera
  • 2600mAh battery
  • Android 4.2.1 – Jelly Bean

So far those specs look right on par with the rumors we’ve seen in the past few months. I’d love to have an Exynos 5 Octa device, that thing is going to be blazing fast. Who’s excited for this device? What do you think on these confirmed rumors? Let us know in the comments below.

I've been a huge fan of Android since the OG Motorola Droid hit back in 2009 on Verizon, since then I have gone on to own some of the best devices we've seen including the HTC EVO 4G, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, Nexus 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. I also have a passion for writing about anything having to do with Android.

Everything looks great, specially the Octa chip; except the battery, in this day and age, a 2600mAh battery is not going to cut it.

Unfortunately, this is accurate. Even with new technology, smaller fabs, etc. Average power usage/work done still is an issue. They’ve been too focused on decreasing Idle power usage, and ramping up/down volte and clock speed for far too long, and because of it, while doing intensive tasks, battery life will be lacking.

Let me get this straight…..your claiming that a phone with the same already-reported model number for a Tizen device will be the first device with Exynos Octa–and that it will run Android?

Not to mention the fact that this article was extremely poorly written.

“Pebble Blue and Marble White”–isn’t a sentence without context. Are you saying that these are going to be the color names? Or maybe youre using them as an example? Just as well, Samsung did end up releasing a black SIII, and it was real black…not a dark blue.

It’s going to be announced, at Mobile World Congress, or sometime near it, in either New York, London, Or Korea?

This is the worst conjecture I’ve ever seen. You suggest that it’s going to be black and white (two colors that virtually every reputable manufacturer releases our devices in), that it will use the Octa 8 (a chip that Samsung already announced, and showcased), that it will use a 4.99″ HD display (a display Samsung already announced and showcased–they been said it’d replace their 720p display), and that it will use 2GB of RAM (what all high-end devices are going to be using this year–as per their design, and the release of white papers paired with their respective SoCs).

You’re not predicting crap! And this shouldn’t even be featured, because if there truly was an insider feeding someone this stuff, they’d give you or Sammobile something real! Because Sammobile would have/should have recognized that there isn’t a single piece of news here!
